The Costa Mesa Pop Warner Cheerleading Staff wants to welcome you to the CMPW Organization for another exciting season of Football and Cheer!!! We are honored that you have chosen to join the Mesa Eagle family and look forward to working together to ensure this is an enjoyable and positive season for your child. Pop Warner in not just about football and cheerleading! It’s about building life long characteristic traits in our youth.
We also look forward to watching each child learn the fundamentals of football and cheerleading in a safe and organized environment. Your child will be challenged this season to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, time management, and physical fitness. Along the way, we believe each will learn teamwork, self-discipline, and leadership skills. Pop Warner offers a unique experience, which we are proud to have you participate in. You will find that the Pop Warner years will be the best and most missed when your child moves on to High School, College or beyond.
Pop Warner’s philosophy since 1929 has been that athletics and academics go Hand in Hand, with academics being first. Pop Warner is the only youth organization that has a National program to recognize its scholar athletes. The program recognizes scholar-athletes at Conference, Regional, and National level. We look forward to recognizing each participant’s academic success through our little scholars program.
Because this is an all volunteer organization we encourage all families to be involved. Participation by parents means a lot to the kids while at the same time improving and strengthening our organization.
Costa Mesa Pop Warner offers a great experience for youth who want to cheer for a team and also participate in exhibitions or competitions. We strongly emphasize good sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Costa Mesa Pop Warner has cheerleading squads for youth ages 5 to 15. Cheerleaders are placed on teams by the Costa Mesa Pop Warner cheer coordinator based on the participant’s age as of July 31, 2009. There are no tryouts. Participants are placed on squads on a first-come, first-served basis as space permits.

The younger cheerleaders at the Flag and Mighty divisions do not participate in competitions but do have an exhibition with other cheer squads in the Orange Empire Conference (OEC).
Cheerleaders in the Junior Pee Wee division and up compete at the local (OEC) level for the opportunity to advance to regional and national competition.
Costa Mesa Pop Warner provides a safe and fun environment for teaching the fundamentals of cheerleading and preparing our participants for competition. Last year Costa Mesa Pop Warner had a team advance to the regional level and then competed for the national title at Disney World in Orlando. This year’s OEC regional Competition is at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach.
The cheerleading squads are assigned to football teams and accompany them to all their home and away games-including post-season play at invitational bowls and regional/national competitions. The cheerleaders cheer during the games and also perform at halftime.
